LONG BRANCH, February 1 – Area children do not have to wait for summer to build castles in the sand. On FEBRUARY 11, as part of a FREE DAY OF FUN at Seashore Day Camp, John Gruber, a sand sculptor will teach boys and girls how to build intricate structures in the sand(box). Gruber will be joined by award-winning magician R.J. Lewis, who has performed on Broadway, television and at the White House.
Gruber’s interactive hands-on demonstration and Lewis’ high energy magic show will headline the many activities taking place at Seashore’s 345 Second Avenue, 404 Broadway and 410 Broadway campuses in Long Branch from 12-3p.m.
It is being held to show area families why Seashore was voted the BEST CAMP in MONMOUTH COUNTY in the 2011 Asbury Park Press Readers Choice Awards and give children a chance to try new activities slated for Summer 2012.
The Day of Fun schedule will include climbing to the top of the 28’ high tree house fort and zip lining 300’ (weather permitting), swimming in indoor heated pools, wind surfing simulator, inflatable sports park, Iceberg climbing wall, spins on the Rockit, ceramics, jewelry making, gymnastics, Super Climber roller racer obstacle course, cupcake decorating, basketball challenge and more.
Sign ups for surf camp and sports camps (football, baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, pitching and catching, surfing, water skiing, wind surfing and sailing) will start at the Day Of Fun on a first-come, first-served basis.
Three to five year-olds should go to 345 Second Avenue and 6-12 year-olds should go to 404 Broadway. There is no obligation to enroll, but parents must stay with their children.
While many things have changes since its inception, the camp’s commitment to providing programs that take fun to new heights remains the same. In addition to its unique water sports, recreation and special event schedule, Seashore is known for producing some of the strongest, most accomplished swimmers and athletes at the Jersey Shore.
